Soft Cell are an English synth-pop and electronic pop duo from Leeds, built around Marc Almond’s dramatic vocals and Dave Ball’s minimalist, club-driven synthesizer production. Formed in the late 1970s, they became international new wave icons with their 1981 version of “Tainted Love” and the influential debut album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. Their catalog also includes “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye,” “Bedsitter,” “Torch,” “What!,” “Memorabilia,” “Sex Dwarf,” and later-era releases such as *Happiness Not Included* and the upcoming Danceteria, keeping their mix of electronic music, cabaret, nightlife, and dark pop part of synth-pop history.
